Mock Seafood Pizza

Although this is not a Greek recipe, it was originally given to me by a Greek lady, hope that counts. Although I lost her written recipe, here is my adapted version. I’m including this because it is so delicious and great for parties. You must watch the carb count in the cocktail sauce so try to find a cocktail sauce out there that is low in carbs. Naturally anything with tomato is going to have carbs in it, just stay away from the common cock tail sauces you find in the grocery stores; instead, you can make your own using 1 cup of unsweetened ketchup, 2 tablespoons of horseradish, ½ tsp. of Worcestershire sauce, ½ tsp of tobacco sauce, 1 tsp onion powder, and 2 tbsp of lemon juice…voila! Low carb cocktail sauce.

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl

  • Rubber spatula

  • Round Platter

Ingredients

  • 8 oz (225 grams) cream cheese

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise

  • ½ tsp. Worcestershire sauce

  • ¼ tsp. Tabasco sauce

  • ½ tsp. onion powder

  • ¼ tsp. garlic powder

  • 8 oz (225 grams) cooked crab flakes, or cooked shrimp, chopped

  • 8 oz (225 grams) cocktail sauce

  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice

  • 1 Tbsp. chopped parsley

Instructions

1
Bring cream cheese to room temperature.
2
In a bowl, combine cream cheese, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, onion powder, and garlic powder. Using a rubber spatula, combine until smooth.
3
Using the same rubber spatula, layer the cream cheese spread across a large round serving platter. Use at least a 15-inch diameter platter. Anything smaller and your cheese spread will be too thick. You want the cream cheese spread to be 1 centimeter thick at most. Refrigerate and chill for 2 hours.
4
Next, add the entire bottle of cocktail sauce. Make sure you leave at least a ½ inch space so that the cream cheese spread shows. You don’t want to completely cover the spread. See the photo above.
5
Then, add your crab or shrimp. Drizzle the lemon juice over all your seafood and sprinkle with your chopped parsley.
6
Enjoy! Bon Appetit! Kali Orexi!

Notes

You can make this ahead of time by preparing the cream cheese layer in the morning, and then right before serving you add the cocktail sauce and chopped shrimp or crab. I always serve this at Christmas because of the bright red and pink and green against the white contract making it perfect for the holiday cheer. You want to serve this with a hard keto cracker or vegetables. Anything thinner and you will have trouble scooping up all the of the layers onto your cracker. For the non-keto folks, you can use Triscuits as it is a sturdy cracker that can hold up to the cold cream cheese.
