Egg Sandwich with Cumin

Although this is not a Greek recipe per se, it is my adaptation of a Saudi breakfast sandwich, so it is made by a Greek, which should qualify for a place on my website.  This Saudi breakfast sandwich is called Baid Maslooq, which translates to “boiled egg” in Arabic (Saudi Dialect).  You typically find this sandwich at traditional Boofiya restaurants, the Saudi version of a deli, that has various and unique sandwiches that can be eaten at 10 am in the morning or at 11 pm at night.  From fried liver to fried egg sandwiches, this egg sandwich was a healthier choice when I would stroll into the Boofiya at 9 am on my way to work.

Boiled egg, mayonnaise, cumin, and hot sauce make this a unique breakfast sandwich. I go through phases that I get addicted to this breakfast sandwich and can eat it daily for weeks on end. Also, it's quick and easy to prepare, especially if you pre-boil your eggs.

Notes

Try this traditional version first. Then from here, you can add additional spices of your choice like Aleppo pepper flakes, or any other favorite spice that you think goes with a boiled egg. Please note that I use mayonnaise that comes in a squeeze bottle making it easy to add on top of the boiled egg. If you are scooping out the mayonnaise from a jar with a teaspoon, then use a knife and spread the mayonnaise on the wrap before placing the boiled egg. The hot sauce can also be added prior to adding the boiled egg. Regarding the keto-friendly tortilla, try to find one that has 1 to 2 net carbs to keep your macronutrients in check so that you can stay in ketosis. There are many companies out there making low-carb tortillas; some better than others. Make sure you read the ingredients. I tend to choose the ones that contain coconut flour, cauliflower flour, almond flour, vital wheat gluten, or organic oat fiber and I try to stay away from the ones that contain modified wheat starch.
