Also referred to as Ktipiti, referring to the process of taking the feta in a bowl and “hitting it” or whisking it into this delicious dip.  There are many variations of this dip throughout Greece depending on the region.   But the main ingredient is of course Feta cheese.

oregano with feta

Feta, drizzled with olive oil and dried oregano.

The other ingredients are hot peppers, or roasted red peppers, olive oil, lemon, and Greek yogurt.

To make it easy for my friends around the world, I have adapted this recipe using Cayenne pepper which is easily available everywhere.  You can also use Kashmiri chili powder, or any other red hot pepper depending on your taste buds.

cayenne pepper

Cayenne peppers and powder.

This recipe is easy because you add everything to the food processor and just blend, chill and serve.  I also add crumbled feta after I process the dip to give it additional texture and depth.

A delicious spread that can be eaten any day of the week. You can serve this on Keto crackers, or even eat with cucumbers or lettuce. The red hot pepper and creamy feta pair well together. If you like to entertain, you can easily double and triple this recipe for parties.

Notes

I use the Greek yogurt brand Fage. I’m very picky with my yogurt and I feel that is the only brand that says “Greek yogurt.” If you read the label and there are thickeners in your brand, then it is not true Greek yogurt. Greek yogurt only has 2 ingredients: milk and active cultures! That’s it! So choose your favorite Greek brand that only has these 2 ingredients.
